"Lady of Ice Lake"
Water Color, Pencil and Microsoft Paint
My senior year of high school, my classmates and I in AP art were making creative books. We did these water color sheets. I took a sheet of water color paper and completely covered the surface with a thin layer of water. I began to fill a dropper that i had with water color paint and lightly dripped it over the wetted paper. It made these interesting forms and shapes with vibrant colors. I use the majority of it for the book and then I kept some scraps to maybe make something different like bookmarks. I looked at this scrap and saw a form of a mermaid fin. So I took my pencil and began to draw the form. I kept this for years and decided to add digital properties in Microsoft paint. I wanted this piece to look different because I've been inspired by Van Gogh lately. I call it " Lady of ice Lake" because the colors are cold and pastel. she is the lady living in the lake during the winter and protects herself my turning the surface into ice. She lives in the heart of the lake swimming through the currents as the fish swim around her.
